ENEA Seafuture: marine environment and climate

ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment) conducts research and technological innovation in energy, environment and new technologies, to support policies of competitiveness and sustainable development of the country. The area of La Spezia, ENEA has a structure entirely devoted to studies of the sea, Centro Ricerche Ambiente Marino S. Teresa.
ENEA Seafuture will attend the event dedicated to research and development related to the sea to be held at the exhibition grounds SPEZIAEXPO 11 to June 14. Its activities dedicated to the sea will be presented in a large stand that CCIA has made available the "system" of the Research Institutions La Spezia, who have long work in synergy with each other and within the wider national and international collaborations to respond to fundamental questions about the future of the marine environment.

Marine Environment Research Center of St. Teresa (Lerici), in particular, aims to assess the impact of human activities and climate change on marine resources and biodiversity. Also participates in major programs for the development of marine forecasting systems in the short and medium term and the establishment of infrastructure for storage and provision of oceanographic data. Researchers from the Centre and Aeneas play observations and process studies in key areas of the Mediterranean ocean areas and particularly significant from the standpoint of global climate dynamics (Arctic and Antarctica).
These studies require the collection of data in a precise, reliable and with high spatial and temporal resolution, which currently involves high costs. For this there is a strong demand for innovative tools that allow data acquisition with a standalone device, or by fixed points capable of carrying out surveys along predetermined routes and collect and transmit data on water column and seabed. The researchers then
ENEA collaborate with research bodies and businesses to develop innovative instrumentation for the study and monitoring of the marine environment and to develop predictive models. The District Ligure for Marine Technology is a great opportunity to encourage, promote and expand this cooperation in the area of La Spezia and Ligurian already very rich in expertise and facilities dedicated to sea.

panels, animations and videos showing the motivations and the main results of studies conducted in the Mediterranean and in the polar areas with examples of technologies developed.
